Janna Cornish has been fighting most of her life winning the battle against cancer again and again. She had Leukemia when she was just six years old. After a bone marrow transplant and radiation, she remained cancer free for ten years. Then, when she was sixteen, she had an operation to remove a malignant brain tumor. In 2016 at age thirty-two, Janna found out she had yet another brain tumor. After that surgery, there were several complications, including the formation of large blood clots in her legs. She has spent the last two years recovering, slowly getting stronger.
Janna recently learned the cancer is back, now in her jaw. This time, the surgeons at the University of Washington Medical Center will remove part of Janna's lower jaw and all of the lymph nodes in one side of her neck. Partial reconstruction will involve transplanting a bone and blood vessels from her lower leg to her jaw. Skin grafts will be likely be taken from her thigh. She will then begin many weeks of radiation at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance five times a week. She will need to live nearby during that time. In about a year, more reconstruction surgeries will be required.
Janna and her mom, Connie Sanders, have lived in Tri-Cities, Washington their entire lives. They are known and loved as truly remarkable women. They've faced each new battle as a team, with humor, positive attitudes, and love. They deal with life head-on, without complaint. Their fight continues. Cancer will lose again. 
Anyone who has had cancer, or any major medical illness, knows it requires a team of specialists, the love of your family, help from all your friends, and the kindness of strangers to beat this disease. When all your focus is on surviving, it is tough to reach out, even to those closest to you, so I created this campaign to help gather the resources, both monetary and physical, to help Janna beat cancer again.
Although Janna is fortunate to have good insurance coverage, the uncovered expenses are quickly adding up. Driving between Seattle and Tri-Cities, and then needing to live near the University for several months will be costly. Even by Seattle standards, rent around the university is terribly high and there are sure to be many expenses not yet considered.
Friends who truly want to help, but don't know what is needed have said, "Let me know if you need me". Unfortunately, it is impossible to name the one thing that will be helpful when you are struggling with hundreds of things that need to happen immediately, so I am creating a database of friends' phone numbers, useful knowledge, and specific offers of how they might be able to be involved in Janna's recovery so Connie can quickly look up who would know about insurance, or who could run an errand for her.
