There's a Tree in the House!

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nancy Harbison Haney, and I'm trying to help my sister, Jayne Harbison, with storm damage repair. You see, March 31, 2023 brought violent storms and tornados to West Tennessee. This storm destroyed homes and businesses, with power lines and trees down everywhere you look. In Memphis, TN, two huge oak trees that my father planted about 55 years ago fell on my family home, where my sister Jayne lives. There is a huge branch through the roof and into the dining room. My sister is a senior with diabetes and COPD, on a small fixed income, and this situation is just not good for her health. Yesterday she went into the hospital with pneumonia. We need help with tree removal and to repair the damages to the house, which includes the roof and the ceiling in the dining room. We had just gotten the old, worn out roof replaced days earlier, and I hadn't gotten the homeowner's insurance renewed yet, so there's no insurance to remove the tree and repair the house. FEMA can't help because Shelby County is not on their list of declared disaster locations. (Not sure why, because there's a whole lot of damage throughout Memphis and Shelby County.) We had hoped for help from Good Samaritans to get the tree removed, but no help has been forthcoming. We've gotten estimates for the tree removal, and they start at $2,500.00. Then there will be the roof and ceiling repairs which we don't have estimates for yet because the damage can't be assessed until the tree is removed. We're asking for help here because I just don't know where else to turn. It's already been three weeks since this happened, and we're desperate to get this taken care of. We can't thank you enough for any help you can provide.

Sincerely,
Nancy Harbison Haney
