Ben's Everytown Fundraiser

This year for my birthday I'm putting energy toward raising $2,600 for Everytown, a non-profit organization I believe in that has been fighting for gun safety in the United States since 2006. Gun safety is something that hits close to home for me as an American. I'm with the kids in the above video-- mass shootings rarely surprise me. They don't ever shock me and I think about what I would do if someone walked into my office with a gun multiple times a day.
Why am I doing this?
I'm doing this for American students who have no choice but to be in classrooms every day and deserve safe schools. My close friends are starting to have children who will soon be starting at kindergarten; I'm doing this for them. My mother has been a teacher for years and spends every day in a classroom; to lose her to this would be to lose everything. And I'm doing this for my own future children; I can't even imagine the pain that comes with losing them to gun violence.
I don't think I'm alone in the discomfort that comes with the regularity of mass shootings and gun violence in our country. And I don't think I'm the only one of my friends and family who wants to do something about it.
What's our goal?
I'm pledging to raise $2600 for Every town. $100 for each year that I have been lucky enough to live. We should work hard toward gun safety in America so that more of our children can grow up to be 26 and live the lives they've imagined for themselves.
Your donation will help Everytown achieve its mission of:
• Conducting groundbreaking original research;
• Developing evidence-based solutions to America's gun violence crisis; and
• Launching public awareness campaigns to educate advocates, lawmakers, and the country at large.
Please donate what works with your budget. I am not working with Everytown directly, but when you donate here, the funds will go directly to the organization and you will receive a receipt for taxes.
Small donations are absolutely fine, this is one of those community things where if everyone rolls up their sleeves and throws something in, real change can happen. Thank you all a ton.
