The Raving Gamer: Langley’s first Board Game Bistro
Combining a deep love of board games and food, The Raving Gamer offers hundreds of board games to play and buy, all while enjoying a delicious locally-sourced full-service restaurant.
The doors of The Raving Gamer opened in Langley in April 2019 and we have been incredibly grateful for how warmly the community has welcomed us. Many roadblocks arose, however – from construction delays to slow-moving permits. As a result, we have accrued debt that is holding us down.
Starting a restaurant is hard. Starting a restaurant with a bar, retail sales, and games to play at the table is even harder.
Friends and family members placed every tile, built every shelf, painted the walls, laid the flooring – the entire place was made with so much love.
Special attention was given to many aspects of The Bistro, including our booths. Each was welded by us, the upholstered cushions hand-sewn. The tables were cut extra-large and built cantilevered without legs in order to offer comfortable gameplay with space on the table for both your game and meal.
The Raving Gamer is a place where memories are made. In amongst the laughter and dice rolls, we see families connecting with each other and couples with their phones out of sight. It is a place for friends to gather, for families with children of all ages, for meetings, parties, even romantic date nights and first dates.
In order to bring this experience to life, offering the community a space it so dearly deserves, our opening date was pushed further and further back, landing us where we are today.
The Raving Gamer is a labour of love and we want to continue to grow and share our love of board games and great food with all of you, as part of the community.
A donation of any amount would be deeply appreciated. First and foremost, the funds raised will help us pay off our construction debt and keep our doors open. We have so many exciting plans for the future – 24 hour game nights, seasonal menus, game tournaments and so much more – but none of this can happen without us getting back on our feet.
Aside from donating, the biggest way to help us is to come in, bring some friends, grab a game, and share some delicious food. Another amazing way to show your support is to share your experience at The Raving Gamer with your friends and family and help us spread the word.
