Therapy for Black Men

The goal of the Therapy for Black Men fundraiser is to pay for the costs of 5 therapy sessions for 3 Black men in the city of Syracuse. 


While mental health illnesses appear throughout the Black community at rates similar to other races, it has been proven that there are disparities within the Black community that specifically discourage those within it from accessing, seeking, and receiving adequate mental health services (1). An immense effort has been put forth, by both organizations and individuals alike, to debunk the stigma around mental health however Black men are still less likely to get the mental health related help that they both need and deserve. 


Our goal is to raise $2,000 between September 1, 2020 and October 1, 2020 in order to pay for 5 therapy sessions for 3 Black men in the city of Syracuse. The recipients will be chosen randomly after expressing interest via our “sign up form” and will be contacted on September 30, 2020. All funds raised will go towards covering the costs of therapy sessions for Black men in Syracuse, NY. 


Blend Theory Community Yoga & Juice Bar and 210 Teas, two Syracuse based businesses, are organizing this effort and are open to sponsorships from other organizations in support of our campaign’s cause.
