My autistic son Ryu has always been a child of the ocean. The effect the waves and surf has on him has always been a joy to see. As a person with autism, and a non-verbal one at that, everyday life can be a struggle for him, but in the ocean he is free, and at home. Unfortunately, living in San Francisco, he is unable to be near the ocean as often as he would like.
Ryu has the opportunity to attend a Surfer's Healing Foundation event on the island of Hawaii on December 6. I would give anything for my son and family to be able to share this experience with Ryu, but as a single mother it is nearly impossible for me at this time. Please consider helping if you can!!
