Help for Autism and Cancer

Welcome to our site! We are the Martins: Diana, Alex and Dan. Alex, our 21-year-old son, was diagnosed with autism when he was almost two and started having seizures this year. Dan is a brain injury survivor (car accident as a child), a prostate cancer survivor (ten years ago), and currently living with bile duct cancer, Stage 4, which has spread to his liver and lymph nodes. In the past, we have been able to keep up with finances with help from our parents and family, but medical bills are now preventing us from doing this. We would like to stay in our small townhome in Rockville. It is the only home our son Alex has ever known and a place where Dan feels he can be comfortable as he copes with cancer. To do this, we need help paying our mortgage and medical bills. Because of his limited mobility, Dan is also in need of a stair lift. The cost of both autism and cancer has taken its toll on us, but we know what's important. Even though our son cannot speak, he can participate in art and play simple songs on the keyboard. Even though we are tired, we can show our support for others by giving back to the community with our business, Alex's Art Loft, www.alexartloft.org.
