For the love of a father

As most of you reading know, after almost 8 years of marriage, in December 2012 Perry and his ex-wife Tiffany split up and he was later served with divorce papers.

What you may not know is that the divorce has not been finalized due to a disagreement on the custody of their eight year old daughter. Tiffany is trying for full custody and Perry is simply fighting to stay in his daughter's life with joint custody - a working arrangement they have had since they split.

What this has meant is in order to ensure that there is an equitable resolution and his daughter is not deprived of one parent over another, Perry has had to hire a lawyer. Because of the hurdles Perry is now expected to face he also recognized he would need a good lawyer. He was lucky enough to find a lawyer who is an expert in the field and has much experience in cases such as his, especially as new unexpected hurdles have arisen throughout the proceedings.

Unfortunately, a lawyer such as that comes with a cost. He has been lucky to have family and close friends assist him in paying his lawyer fees, but money is still tight.

I know each of you can think of a time where Perry has been there for you. Fixed a computer, a phone, a car; let you stay in his home; late night talks and advices; a few dollars -sometimes more- to get you to that next bill payment; and I'm sure there are so many more examples each of you could list.

I am asking at this time of giving for you to give back to Perry and show him that you support him and his right to be in his daughter's life.

I am starting with the hope to fundraise the portion that has gone beyond the initial retainer fee, which by my calculation is about $2,000 so far. This figure does not include the cost of the court mandated in-home evaluation, which is another $2,000. Accounting for minimal additional probable fees brings it to the $5,000 amount.

Would you be willing to contribute to help him? Suggested amount of $50, or whatever you are able to give this holiday season - whether that be more or less.

I am hoping to gather both money and holiday/support messages. I want to create a book/display of the messages and give it to him at Christmas / around the end of the year with a group of friends if possible.
