"The Gusset" Short Film

A year ago, I wrote a script.
It was for a short film that highlighted some of the thoughts that had been stewing in my mind about dating, confidence, communication, double-standards, sexuality, courage, ferocity, independence, aggression, mental illness, and empathy. It took me to a deep place of introspection and self-awareness that I worked hard to convey through my work. It tackled hard issues, dark memories, the suspension of reality, and hidden caverns of the human psyche.
At the time, the funding I had in place to shoot my very humble four-page script fell through and I was CRUSHED. I believed I had an honest and timeless message to share through my film and was abruptly silenced. I fell back into my work all the while knowing I would one day find a way to bring that script back to life.
FAST FORWARD to a few short months ago when the world was flipped upside down with the startling revelations of the countless crimes and atrocities that Harvey Weinstein and so many other men across dozens of industries across the world had committed.
So NOW, more than ever before, is my message relevant, timely, and necessary. Necessary not only for women all over the world, but for humanity as a whole. I know that is a tall order, but the only way to understand ourselves and each other is to experiment and explore all the intricacies of our memories, experiences, and imaginations...whether they be true, fabricated, or horrifying.
The time has come to light my project back up!! My team and I are currently in pre-production to shoot my short film, "The Gusset", over two days in two weeks in Los Angeles. We have raised a small amount of money to cover some of the labor costs for the crew, as I believe it is important to pay people for their time and talents. However, we are lacking in funding for our equipment, food, and post production costs.
I'm graciously and humbling asking for YOUR help to make this dream of mine come true. My dream to show the world how important woman's right are, to showcase that we are all imperfect, and to delve into the scariest parts of our minds where we suppress our basest desires and censor our emotions.
YOUR money will be used specifically for Camera Rental, Grip and Lighting Rentals to shoot each scene properly, Materials for the Art Department including props and set decorations to make our set come to life. Breakfast for our Crew for two days, Lunch for our crew for two days, and snacks for our crew throughout the two days of shooting. Your money will also go to Location Rental costs for the places we will be making this film. The first location is a big gorgeous loft in the middle of Los Angeles and the second location is a smaller studio nearby. Your money will also fund the cost to hire an editor to make our project beautiful after we finish shooting as well as a visual effects editor to assist in additional editing for the more elaborate shots we will capture.
AND for all of this, we need your help within the next WEEK AND A HALF. We have put all the cogs in motion, but we need an extra push to make this film a reality. Thank you for taking the time to read about one of my many dreams and thank you in advance for being a part of this project with us.
