The Diabetic Dirtbag

Donation protected
My name is Joey Chapman, and I've been living with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) for 11 years.

At a young age, managing T1D can be a daunting task. There are times that you feel restricted, left-out and discourged, and, can leave you feeling as though your life will never be normal.

If you are not careful, diabetes can easily control your life. I am now 21-years-old and have been living the healthy, active lifestyle that I want.

My mission is to set an example for people living with T1D to chase their dreams and overcome the reality of diabetes management, while raising money for diabetes research (JDRF)
I want to share my story and experiences as I hike the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT): something that was nearly impossible for people with diabetes 10-years ago.

I will be hiking the PCT with my two brothers: Andrew and Julian.  We will be backpacking 2,600 miles over a span of 6 months from Mexico to Canada, and will document the struggles T1D has on not only myself, but the people around me.

You will be able to follow our journey along the trail via Photo-blog
Podcast (Hang Dog Days)
Creative video documentation
Social media platforms.

WE NEED YOUR HELP fundraising for trail costs, medial supplies, food, gear, and marketing/storytelling purposes.

Any and all support is greatly appreciated and will help a us reach a near impossible dream!
