The Waltz Feature Film

Why this film? Why now?
Sundance Fellow. An Emmy-Award-winning cinematographer. A first-time female director backed by a producer with three features under her belt. A post-production producer who works as an editor and teaches editing at the Georgia Film Academy. Countless shorts and other projects under this team's belt.

And an ongoing national and global discussion about being transgender. Not to mention the ongoing violence against transgender persons.

But, the focus of this story remains on joy. Trans joy, but universal joy in pursuing one's happiness. Her personal liberties she's able to make in her life, because of the love and care she's surrounded by. This is a movie that centers on showing someone in a marginalized community thriving. Not just surviving.

This is the story that needs to be told. To anyone considering transitioning and wondering if a life can still be lived. For family members wondering how to handle a loved one transitioning. For coworkers wondering how to handle someone transitioning. And for romantic interests. And the simple answer is .... just be human. Just be.

In January 2022, RoleCall graciously hosted us for a live table read of our script before an audience. And the response was … just wonderful. Here’s a sneak peak!

How Will The Funds Be Used?
Our overall goal is $200K. I know. That's ambitious. But I think we can do it, as a community. Make this trans-rom-com possible.

But our first goal is $10K. What will we do with $10K?
  • $3K to film our pitch video. Right now, this is coming out of pockets we don't even have, and the money raised will go towards feeding and paying our crew. Between grants and Ava's personal funds, she's been able to pay for Spencer's flight and hotel so all production money can go towards making our pitch video to show you our concept.

  • $5KBring on an entertainment/film finance attorney. Before we can court investors, we need to have the right paperwork and attorney in place. And, attorneys cost money.

  • $2K Continued dance lessons for our leads, Ava Davis and Spencer Mumford.
And that brings us to $10K
