The Waiting: A New Folk Musical

We are so excited to announce that we have been chosen to present The Waiting at the SheNYC festival this summer!! Only two musicals were selected from over 300 submissions, and we are so honored to be presenting our work at the Connelly Theatre this July. It is a great opportunity for the show to grow and be fully staged and heard out loud for the first time!

The Waiting revolves around widowed mother Chlo Evans shortly after the disappearance of her eight-year-old daughter, Willow. As Chlo searches for her daughter, she discovers a strange parallel universe called The InBetween, where lost souls wait to pass through to the afterlife. As Chlo’s understanding of her reality bends, can she go beyond the pain of her loss, or will her soul stay trapped by the padlock of grief?

The musical deeply investigates themes of motherhood, spirituality, and grief. Over the past few years, the entire globe has become deeply acquainted with loss, and the impact of the pandemic has immensely shaped our writing. The SheNYC festival produces work by gender marginalized writers - only 8% of Broadway musicals in the past ten years have been written by women), and our perspectives as female-identifying writers have deeply influenced our work. We are so excited to share our story as a part of this festival that celebrates female and non-binary creators.

That being said, it takes a village to make a musical, and we need your help as well. It costs thousands of dollars to rent rehearsal space, pay actors, and purchase the many pieces that make a musical magical. If you are able, we would deeply appreciate your donation to our GoFundMe at the link in our bio.
