Rebuilding Hope: Support for the Macedo Family

Hi everyone, my name is Maddie Macedo, and I'm sharing my family's story with a heavy heart. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at around 11:30pm, while I was at work, unimaginable news hit: our home in San Ramon, CA, caught fire and burned to the ground. A faulty extension cord wire sparked the blaze, catching furniture first which ignited the extremely hot fire, leaving nothing but ashes and devastation in its wake.

It happened so fast. My parents, Matt and Lynn, were asleep with our beloved dogs, Abby, Cali, and Wilbur, when the flames ignited. Dad, ever the hero, tried desperately to hold back the fire while Mom and the dogs escaped. Sadly, they couldn't grab anything – not even their phones, keys, or shoes. Dad inhaled a lot of smoke and suffered burns on his hand, and poor Abby also breathed in some smoke.

Beyond losing our everyday belongings, the pain cuts deeper. This house held more than bricks and mortar. It was where my brother, Dad, and I grew up, where I took my first breath in my parent’s

bed in 2001. Every corner whispered memories of family gatherings, laughter with friends, and countless moments of love. All gone.

Right now, we're homeless and facing an uncertain future. Everything feels overwhelming, but we're trying to take things one step at a time. This GoFundMe is a beacon of hope in this darkness. We're hoping to raise funds for essential needs like clothes, toiletries, and a temporary place to stay while we rebuild our lives.
