The Tymber Skan Playground

We are the Metro West Life Group from First Baptist Orlando! We're a group of ministry leaders and servants working out of Orlando Fl, trying to make a difference in the lives of others by spreading the word of God, being His hands and feet inside the community of Orlando. 

At the beginning of 2017, we began to feel like the impact we needed to make was in the community of Tymber Skan. 

Tymber Skan is a mostly forgotten neighborhood just inside the city limits of Orlando Fl. While it's home to some of the best people we've been privileged enough to meet, it's also fallen into a deep state of repair. For the occupants it's become an every day occurrence to see the impact of drugs and violence inside their community, and they're feeling the need now more than ever for the love of Christ. 

As a life group, we've worked alongside many of the home owners and renters inside the subdivision, doing our best to provide things from every day clean up and garbage pickup to storm cleanup after Irma and mediation between them and the city of Orlando. 

Among other things, we've seen the need of recreation for the children and families. A quick google search will show you what a state of disrepair the majority of the homes are in. They'll show you the violence and the oppression that they've seen. They won't show you the smiling faces of children or the young families that are trying to face every day life in the face of such adversity. 

We've decided to build a playground!

With 2018 here, we've talked and decided to get involved a little deeper than before. We've seen the heart of the people, and we've witnessed God moving in ways that we can't explain. We believe that we can make a difference in the lives of the youth there help to bring hope to TS, and we believe hope is a God given building block towards restoration. Physically and Spiritually. 

We've set the goal for this campaign at $10,000. It seems like a lot, but to clear overgrown land, bring in equipment and at time professionals (because let's be honest, we don't ALWAYS know exactly how to do it!!) bring the costs far above what we can cover as a life group. 

With the church and staff of First Baptist Orlando getting on board we've found encouragement to take this to the people of God, trust that He will provide and move ahead with plans to advance what first seemed like a lofty goal. 

We're reaching out to our community through GoFundMe in hopes that we can spread the word of our mission, see the dots being connected, and feel the impact of God doing great works through the people of Orlando and her reach. 

Any money not spent on the playground will go immediately into other revitalization efforts in Tymber Skan in hopes to provide a continuing life line through the ministry of our giving. With much to be done, we're encouraging you to listen to your hearts and what God is telling you. If you'd like to contribute financially it's as easy as donating here. This is our opportunity to show the community not only how God has saved and worked in our lives, but a small taste of what He can do in theirs as well.
