The Tommy Kid Foundation

In October, 2018, our son Tommy Oliver lost his battle with a rare and aggressive form of lymphoma, Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma (HSTCL), at the young age of 21.  This lymphoma resulted from the long term use of a treatment medication he was administered since age 9 for Crohn's Disease.  He was diagnosed with HSTCL on his 21st birthday and succumbed to this illness a mere 7 months later.

We are carrying out Tommy's wishes to form a foundation with the core mission of helping others avoid this devastating result by researching and identifying, on an international level, alternative medical treatments for those who suffer from these diseases.  Our hope is that, until cures are developed, that we can provide more information to patients and their families so that they can consider alternative treatments.

This foundation is called The Tommy Kid Foundation. Please visit our website to learn more. You can also Like and Follow our mission and its progress on our Facebook.

TKF focuses on three different causes, all of which we hold to a similar, high regard:

Crohn's Disease:  To date, there is no known cure, only treatment options to keep this disease in remission.  Our mission will be to explore the global arena for alternative treatments to the traditional pharmaceutical treatments used in the US and offer those findings so that others have more options.  The Tommy Kid Foundation will also work with organizations like the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, which pursue, with our same passion, the global arena for alternative treatment methods whose ultimate unbounded mission is to find a cure.

Hepatosplenic T-Cell Lymphoma (HSTCL): There is little known in the medical field about this rare, aggressive, lymphoma.  It is difficult to diagnose and there is no known standard of care in its treatment.  Once diagnosed, the survival rate is bleak.  Our mission will be to work with organizations, like the T-Cell Leukemia Lymphoma Foundation, whose goal is to identify a treatment standard, and ultimately a cure.

Bone Marrow:  Although there is currently no known cure for HSTCL, bone marrow transplant is life extending and may be the only hope for other leukemia and lymphoma patient's survival.  Sadly, donors are needed in the US.  Tommy's life extending bone marrow donor was found in Europe, without which, he likely would have perished sooner.  Our mission will help raise awareness in the US that bone marrow donors are desperately needed.  We will be partnering with Be The Match  in this effort.

Donations will be an ongoing need as we grow this foundation and continue to challenge the "norm".  Your donation will help fund these efforts. Tommy's wish was, "if nothing else, maybe we can save just one person, one family, from going through what we're going through". Your support, at any level, is invaluable in our efforts to find answers, to find better ways.

The Tommy Kid Foundation  would like to thank you for each and every dollar you donate to Tommy's cause.  Please help us to spread the word and share this Go Fund Me page with others.
