The Thomas Read Bursary

Donation protected
On 5th April 2020, I will be running the Manchester Marathon to raise money for a bursary set up for my close family friend Thomas, who very sadly and unexpectedly passed away in 2015.

Thomas had a difficult start to life. He spent much of the first year of his life in Hospital and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, leading to difficulties with feeding, swallowing and movement. Despite concerns from the healthcare team looking after Thomas, he thrived. His interest in sports was evident at an early age and he attended sports events whenever he could.

Thomas studied Geography at the University of Exeter and went on to complete a Masters in Journalism at Cardiff University. Not long before he passed, Thomas landed his dream job working as a journalist for Sky Sports.

Thomas demonstrated that disability should not be a barrier when you have a talent and his family want to promote this through the bursary set up in Thomas' name. The Thomas Read Bursary aims to help those with a disability reach their ambitions to become a journalist by offering financial support so that disability is never a factor in achieving goals.

Please help me raise some money for this amazing charity by donating!
