Hi all,
I've organized this page for my friend Autumn. She is an amazing person who gives her all to everything she does. She is completely blind and has just graduated from UC Berkeley. Autumn has been caring for her disabled mother and herself with minimal assistance and the help of friends for years while also going to school.
While in school, Autumn worked as a DJ at KALX, a job that gave her the title of first ever blind DJ at the station. Her hard work and dedication also led to her serving as the station's publicity manager.
She has been turned away from many jobs that she is overly qualified for one reason or another ( but really it's because of her disability ) and is now serving a two month paid internship with a dream employer in Santa Monica. To accept the internship has left her mother and one retired guide dog homeless in the Bay Area, while she and her other guide dog are homeless in Santa Monica. Both women are currently moving from couch to couch but are in dire need of permanent solutions.
As of today, 8/10/2017, Autumn's mother is sleeping in her car with Autumn's retired guide dog, Beauty. She is in need of immediate housing in the east bay area.
Any and all money raised will be spent in securing housing for these two women and their service animals. Motels and rooms first with any money left over going towards apartment deposit and travel expenses.
