Superhero
When you are small you get to imagine a different life, climbing buildings and saving the day. What would your superpower be? I wanted to fly, if I'm honest. You grow up so quickly and learn that the laws of physics (and adulting) do not allow for such imaginations. I think deep down each of us still hopes to wake up one day and realize you can prove them all wrong.
As a young adult, I was invincible. Mistakes were made with no real concern, as we would always just get through it. Once you have children, you realize how fragile life can be. What I have learned is that you cannot stop pain from showing up. You can however, choose what you are going to do with it. You can let it define you or you can make it count for something.

Funding
We normally have local fundraisers a few times a year as we all have regular jobs. With the scope of this particular project, its not enough. This house needs everything: Paint, flooring, walls knocked down/repaired, garage repaired, landscaping, furnishings. We also have the expense of the property taxes while we are handling the rehab.
Additional funding raised above and beyond this project will be used for our next house project. Yeah that's right, I said the NEXT house! Our hope is this is not a one and done but we need your help!
Additional needs:
Support hospitals that have a toy shortage during the holidays.
Upgrade and purchase additional costumes.
Support treatment and funeral expenses.

Family for house
We are working with local hospitals for donation family to be chosen. No one on our team could handle this task as I don't think we could stomach choosing the sickest child/family etc. Its not our role. We respectfully ask for you not to submit families.
The SC story:
The day started out like any other. Same routine. My son Dominick had the flu but other than that, business as usual. I kiss my wife and son goodbye and headed to work. This is when everything changed. This would be the start of realizing that we are not invincible. Life is short and sometimes sudden.
My wife called around noon terrified. "Dom is passing out, we're in the middle of target, I'm taking him to the ER. Hes not acting right." She rushes him to the hospital. I jump in a cab. I remember thinking, is this real? Still to this day its a blur. One big ball of "Its not possible."
Arriving at the hospital, my son was hooked up to what was later nicknamed "The dragon mask." Its a purple dinosaur nebulizer. The nurse explained that Dom was going to be here for three days and get one of these treatments every hour as he had RSV: https://www.webmd.com/lung/rsv-in-babies#1
3 days with a child getting albuterol treatments is brutal, both for the child as its basically baby crack and the parents as well, the child is climbing the walls.

Superhero week:
The staff at NW community hospital are simply incredible people. They wore capes during our visit. I didn't really think much of it as I was so worried for my child but later a nurse came in and explained. It was day 2 of no sleep as they woke Dom up for a treatment so consistently, I couldn't find rest. Patience was thin and I was wearing it on my face as Dom was trapped in this little room and full of energy. The nurse asked, "can I please take him?" For what? "Its superhero week!" She handed him a seek-and-find so he could go find the superheros on the doors of the rooms. Happily he danced through the hallways yelling out "Superman! Flash! Green Lantern!" Of course, he knew them all. Hes MY son. I watched and thought how cool this was. At the end they all got to choose a toy from the "Toy Room." It was incredible. The very sick were normal kids for 5 minutes. High fiving and congratulating each other on their wins. My son is now fine. This was what I decided I wanted to do with that experience:

Batman visits
I started this charity with intention of simply making children smile. Bring some toys. Simple. What followed would be the changing of lives and I had no idea the importance. We CAN make a difference, one child at a time.
