The sausage needs a Spinal

Our little family has been overseas for the last 8 months and are now home as we’re expecting our second baby in February. Upon our return we stopped into Sydney to visit family and our two little doggies, Bangers and Coco. Both of them have been in perfect health the whole time we were away... until four days before we were due to fly to Perth, our little Bichon was diagnosed with kidney stones, bladder stones and a blockage in the ureter, on top of a staff infection. We were in strife for a few days, we thought we were going to lose her. She was being treated at the Animal Referral Hospital in Homebush by Medicine Specialist Narelle Brown, and thank goodness is on the mend...for now. She had a stent placed in the ureter and the stones removed from the bladder, but she’s in the orange zone in terms of recovery; she needs to be monitored closely for infection and signs of deterioration. We flew home to Perth on Saturday evening, and were thinking that we had about a month worth of recovery for her and then she’d be flying home. We have insurance, but the cost was $10k in total. We had to get VetPay because we didn’t have the money.

This morning we’ve woken up to some bad news. Bangers, our six year old little sausage, has ruptured a disc in his spine for the third time in three years. We are devastated, we’re in Perth and he’s in Sydney and he’s going to need surgery at the same hospital that Coco has just left. The wonderful people caring for Bangers (Coco is recovering at my sisters house for now) were at the gate about to board a flight to Queensland for the weekend when they got a call to tell them what had happened (Bangers was at family’s place for the weekend). They cancelled their flight and holiday and are on a train right now heading to the local vet to pick Bangers up. He will need a referral for the ARH and diagnosis etc from there. We have literally spent our last portion of money on Coco’s care, and have nothing left for Bangers. We will have a diagnosis this morning, but everyone is pretty sure it’s IVDD. Currently, he can’t move at all. Any help towards saving Bangers’ spine would be such a blessing...we are not ready to say goodbye to him.
