As many of you know, nearly a month ago on June 14th, our town suffered the incredibly sudden loss of Kyle Sandifer — a servant of the Lord and friend to so many. While his life was a testament to God's ability to perform miracles, he never lived an easy story. He fought hard against drug addiction, depression, anxiety, and many other aches that were unknown to most people.
Along for the ride were his sister and parents, who fought relentlessly for him every day. They never stopped praying, never stopped hoping, and never stopped believing that his life would be more than a story of destruction.
And anyone who knows how the rest of the story goes, knows that it paid off.
Kyle was saved on August 7th, 2016 and Jesus turned his life around. He got involved in youth ministry, moved in with some incredible men from church, led a small group of young boys, restored relationships, and fell in love with his dream girl. So when he was found unresponsive 3 weeks ago, everyone was confused. It didn't make sense and still doesn't, especially for his family who fought so hard for redemption. But there are two things we do know:
1. Kyle was and is redeemed forever — he has taken his seat at the eternal feast and we will see him again.
2. It's time to rally around his family.
Greer's dream is to send her parents on a vacation, following these weeks that have been saturated with things no parent or family should ever have to dream of. Our prayer is to raise enough for them to have a week on one of the Virgin Islands. Please help her make this a reality and give Kyle's parents some much needed time away to be together, to heal, and to find their new normal. Ultimately, we are thankful that their hope is not in any amount of money or getaway opportunities — but in a God who promises to come through.
We know money is hard to throw out these days — there are a million GoFundMe's circulating that represent truly worthy causes. All we ask is that you'd get on your knees, that you'd ask the Father what He would have you do, and that you'd obey when He answers.
