We have all seen the devastating aftermath in Hurricane Maria's wake. 3.5 million people in Puerto Rico now live with little to no electricity, clean water, or gas. Crops have been destroyed across the island, and grocery stores are becoming barer by the day.
We know these people. They are our cousins, great aunts and uncles who barely have enough food for only the next two weeks. They live in the isolated mountains of Mayaguez, where it's now taking them over 2 hours to travel less than 5 miles to town because of blocked roads and traffic, using precious gas they waited 8 hours to get.
We cannot afford to sit idly by and wait for other help to arrive. What they need most is power. Please help us raise the funds to send them generators that they can use in their homes. This will allow them to store medicine, cook food, and run the water pump that is connected to their local well.
The cost to send a generator is high but necessary in order to help ease their suffering until more significant help arrives.
