the reforestation of Transition Festival Location

Dear family,

As every 21st of September, here we are to give you some updated news about Transition Festival. As many of you may already know, during the past summer there has been a wild fire happening in Almonte burning more than 1000 hc of green forest.  The picture shows the actual aspect of the forest on the way to the festival location. The root of the fire has been confirmed, pointing out that it was an andoned pile of plastics that got burned by the high temperatures reached on the past 26th of July 2022. It was around 13:30 pm when some of us realised there was a big fire around... We could see the smoke from our homes... the sky got orange, it was really an emergency... a true nightmare, even some families had to be evicted because of the risk of fire. It took 3 days to control the craziness and the consequences could have been really devastating if the fire would have taken more time to expand itself...

The fire reached the festival lands and it started to burn everything around. Miraculously, it didnt reach the Main Floor and the Camping Area. The Spirits of Nature have protected our sacred circle of pine trees, making an energetic wall stopping the fire and leaving our lovely dancefloor untouched. It was really overwhelming to be there the day after and see all the forest burned, but the main floor and the camping area intact. This brought a big hope to our hearts, since we could feel that this celebration could continue in the future. Not everything was lost...

After 2 months of meetings with the City Council studying the possibilities to continue with the project, it is essential for you to know the following information: we can not perform Transition Festival 2023 in the next Spring because there is a forestial project to be carried by the City Council in the festival grounds and all the damaged area.  This project will start around February and we dont really know when it will finish; the information we have is that it will take 3 months of work, freezing our gathering until next 2024 at least. It has been really hard for us to accept this situation, mostly because we are coming from 2 years of Pandemic and last edition was such an amazing experience... it was best edition ever!!! However, from the bottom of our hearts, we know that this decision is for the best of Transition Festival experience. Transition Crew is compromised with this forest, we love it and respect it, and we will give the time it needs to recover from this catastrophe, so that we can reunite again with our family under the full moon. 

We are sorry for all the transitioners who plan to visit us for the next 2023, you can still come to visit Doñana, the beach and its wonderful sunsets. The good thing is that our hearts are still pumping and we are really looking forward to celebrate with you again in 2024, with a renewed forest and energies!!!. This is not a goodbye, 

it is just "See you in 2024".
