The Reality of Black Maternal Health
Donation protected
1 in 5 new moms experience a maternal mental health condition. However, 40% of Black women experience maternal mental health symptoms—nearly twice the rate of all women. Up to half of these women do not receive any support or treatment.
Behind these statistics are powerful, untold stories of strength, loss, resilience, and healing in the face of systemic biases.
Push Thru: The Motherhood Journey of Black Women is a powerful documentary highlighting the journey to motherhood, capturing prenatal care, childbirth, and postpartum experiences in the Black community. Through interviews with mothers, partners, doctors, doulas, and advocates, the film will examine the systemic issues behind maternal health disparities and highlight solutions.
We need your help to raise $30,000 to produce this necessary documentary. We can’t make this vital film without you.
All funds raised through this campaign will support filming, editing, graphics, music licensing, travel, marketing, and distribution. Donors will be recognized in the film’s credits but will have no legal rights to the film.
By supporting Push Thru, you can help shine a light on the challenges facing Black mothers and advocate for greater justice, empathy, and care around maternal mental health. Let’s work together to make the journey to motherhood safer for all.
Please give what you can today to help lift the voices and stories of Black women. Together, we can Push Through systemic biases and be a catalyst for change in Black maternal mental health. Thank you for your support.
