Support the Raffo-Day Family

First, a note on the photo.  It was taken in 2008 - from left is Jonah, now fifteen, my sister Angela,  the baby girls  - Stella and Ruby, now twelve, and finally Michelle, my sister-in-law.

Many of you may know that Michelle lost her job late last year.  She was the main income provider for her family.  Her job also provided them with good health care.  Michelle was let go because she stopped being able to remember simple things like her county of residence or how to write a check.  Initial testing was negative for anything obvious like a brain tumor or infection.  Her prognosis had been unclear until last week when it was discovered that Michelle is suffering from Early-onset Alzheimers.   As you can imagine the news has been devastating. 

I have created this fund to assist their family with the increasing demands of Michelle's care and mounting  medical bills.  My sister is now the sole income provider and in many ways parent.

To supplement their income Angela airbnbs part of their home.   She's looked into selling but it's complicated.  Doctors have warned that moving Michelle to a new environment could be detrimental to her present state and wellbeing.  The chaos of a move would also be hard on the kids who are experiencing the instability of their mom being sick.

My hope is that by supporting Angela and Michelle financially we can help to ease some of their financial burden and in doing so let them know that we are here with support and love.  In spite of enormous grief, life moves on and they need our help now.
