The Prospect House and Civil War Museum

Tax deductible
The Prospect House and Civil War Museum  is a house museum that became a non-profit 501(c)(3) approximately 10 years ago. We have been very fortunate to gain the favor of several Trusts, Foundations, Cities, Townships and the MN Historical Society through grants for programming. Through those grants we have been able to teach 6th graders about the Civil War, a Minnesota education program developed under MN State Social Standards regarding the Civil War and Reconstruction 1850-1877. Students engage in learning about Minnesota’s role in the Civil War, and the U.S. Dakota War of 1862, and the settlement of west central Minnesota.

We also received recognition on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. Our Civil War Museum was updated and made secure through a local Trust.

Despite all this good fortune with grant lending entities for expanding our education program and donations, we are unable to secure general operations monies (lights, heat, air, water, etc.). Things that are necessary to provide and keep our programs and tours going.

Due to excessive maintenance costs, shoveling and snow blowing due to the winter we had last year, our general funds budget was quickly depleted. So, we are asking you today to help us meet these costs so the Museum can continue offering educational programs and tours. Our goal would be to raise $10,000 with your help. Thanking you in advance.
