The Plunge 2024

With the highest population in the world, India is a country whose people face many economic, environmental and social challenges. There are additional challenges for those who follow Jesus, as there has been a steady rise in persecution of Christians due to government pressure. The organization Open Doors ranks India as 11th in the world for the most extreme persecution of Christians; this ranking is based on the likelihood that Christians will experience things like social exclusion, discrimination in the workplace, physical assaults and other forms of violence.

In the midst of this, Christians are still trying to love God and their neighbours. Calvary Baptist Church in Gravenhurst, Ontario has a connection with a church in India who serves God and their community through running children's centers, conducting services in multiple locations, distributing food and resources, and providing care and education for women. The tireless work of our brothers and sisters in India moves our hearts and motivates us to act.

This year, when we take the Plunge, it will be in support of the church in India who is doing so much with so little!
