The Paolazzi family & baby Lexa’s NICU stay
Beschermde donatie
My name is Melissa, I am the mother of Mikayla, mother in law of Jon and grandmother of sweet baby Lexa. These next few words are from Mikayla about her last few days…
“As some people may know, I had my OB check up 10/27 for tightness in my chest, severe breathing issues, and severe swelling and BP. My doctor immediately had me sent to the hospital in Lewiston. The doctors there diagnosed me with Preeclampsia and HELLP Syndrome, and because of this with my severe symptoms, they had me life flighted to Spokane WA. The doctors and nurses have been working very hard and round the clock to keep my liver enzymes and platelets on track. Doctors say I will not be discharged.. Lexa will be born prematurely and be in the NICU for 2-3 months. Please pray for my daughter who isn’t fully developed and needs all the love and help she can get. Please pray for me, as HELLP Syndrome puts my life at high risk.. please pray for my husband as we go through this as first time parents. These last 24 hours have been the scariest I’ve ever been through. Doctors are trying to give Lexa more time in the womb but it is a balancing act with my health and potential life so the act of emergency C-section is in the near future.
These last couple of days have honestly been the hardest I’ve ever endured. I would never wish this upon anyone. The high risk delivery team here in Spokane WA said that keeping Lexa in my womb was not an option due to the placenta not working properly. Lexa Paolazzi was born via C-section on 10/30/23 at 5:33pm, weighing in at 1lb 6oz. She was placed on a ventilator to help her breath and has been in the NICU since. The NICU team has been working on getting her off of the vent and trying to get her to breath on her own. As for the placenta, it was dieing and wouldn’t have kept her alive much longer which would have resulted in a still birth..
I am still considered high risk for siezures due to the preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome, so I am still being monitored closely, trying to keep my BP under control.
But Lexa is doing such an amazing job. She is working so hard to keep herself going and I couldn’t be more proud of my little girl she truly is amazing and I pray that she will make it through this and come out the other side healthy and without any deficits. Please pray for my little family as we have many months ahead of us on her journey to growth healing.
Momma loves you baby girl and I am so proud of you. Your strength is so beautiful ”
There is a long road ahead of this amazing family.. Medical bills, traveling expenses, time away from work, etc. These funds will go directly to the Paolazzi family to help with this very unexpected emergency.
