The Official Page of Nick & Jesse

Tragically on August 20th, 2018 a devastating fire swept through the Ashler Oaks second floor apartment of Nick, Jesse, & "Momma," who was being cared for by her son Jesse, & roomate Nick. Both Nick and Jesse did everything heroically and humanly possible to save the life of Jesse's mother, & due to this, both have sustained serious and life threatening injuries. It is believed that during the attempt to save his mother's life, Jesse crawled on his hands & knee's to get to her bedroom after all other attempted routes to get to her had been cut off, causing his severe injuries. 

Nick was inside with Momma sleeping, while Jesse happened to be outside talking to a neighbor when the fire began a little before 10:00pm. The fire was so hot and intensified within moments. Nick was awoken by neighbors beating on the doors and windows to wake he and Momma. Both Nick and Jesse went different routes trying to get to her. Nick was already inside, and Jesse ran to the side of the apartment to go through the outside window. When Jesse was unable to get to his mother, he attempted other directions, causing severe burns. Nick's serious injuries were sustained due to being inside while he attempted his rescue of Momma and sustaining serious smoke inhalation injuries. Nick had to jump out of a second story window when the flames became overwhelming, barely getting out alive. The smoke and heat was so intense that even after the Fire Department arrived moments later and broke another bedroom window, it caused a flash fire so extreme, that the firefighters had to turn away and were unable to rescue Momma.    

Jesse is currently in ICU at the BAMC Burn Unit where he is suffering from over 17% of 2nd & 3rd degree burns on his head, back, shoulders, arms, hands, & his knee's. Nick's injuries are internal due to serious smoke inhalation and is currently recovering at his cousin's home. 

Everything was a total loss and Nick & Jesse have nothing at this point, including basic necessity's such as socks, underwear, and clothing. His injuries will require time and care to heal from. Long term issues he could potentially face are scarring of his lungs and shortness of breath for the rest of his life. Jesse's injuries are so serious that he will remain in the hospital for and undetermined amount of time and rehabilitation will take years, at best.

On behalf of the friends of these extraordinary men, we are trying to raise as much money as possible to assist with both Nick and Jesse's recoveries, medical bills, and after healing, starting their lives over again. The loss alone of their sweet Momma is an entirely different challenge that those that love them, are prepared to do whatever necessary to ease that burden of pain upon them. But they need all of us now, and as much assistance as possible.
