The Nick Kinsley Memorial Scholarship

I am running the Marathon des Sables in April in support of Atlantic Pacific and in memory of my Dad, Nick Kinsley. It’s a gruelling 250km race through the Sahara Desert over 7 days. Atlantic Pacific is a fantastic charity that puts specialised Maritime Rescue expertise where it otherwise wouldn’t be. This amazing organisation puts equipment and trained volunteer crew into locations around the world that most need this lifesaving capability. I lost my Dad to a long term battle with health complications in January 2018. Dad loved the Ocean and our family and friends know that he would be championing this great charity. This scholarship, in his name, will cover the cost of essential training for new volunteer crew members. These are usually young volunteers, who without this bursary may otherwise struggle with the cost. I hope to help them fulfil their ambition in Dad’s name, and I hope that you consider helping us achieve this. Every donation of any size will help. Thanks so much for your contribution to this cause. It means a lot to me and my family. The “Marathon des Sables” is a self supported foot race, through the Sahara desert. It is rightly often called the Worlds’ toughest foot race. Runners must cover 250km in just 6 days, with temperatures varying from 8 to 38°C. With water as the only allowed replenishment, each participant must start the week with all the equipment and food they need to complete the race. The training for the race is tough and remorseless, but the chance to help a cause such as AP, and in Dad’s name will be worth it.
