The Mourne Wall Challenge for Hope Counselling

My name is Matthew Mulrooney, I alongside my Mother Anne-Marie Mulrooney, my Aunt Marguerite Hurson, my good friend John-joe Mulloy are undertaking the Mourne Wall Challenge in Aid of Hope Counselling in Athlone on the 12th of August 2021. We are also joined by another good friend who is keen to undertake the challenge. Aoife Daly is a post-primary school teacher from Roscrea.  Aoife is not new to
fundraising having raised much-needed funds for vulnerable school children in Kenya on many occasions.

 

The Mourne Wall Challenge is a 35.5KM hike through the Mourne Mountains following the free-standing wall that is built along the route. The hike covers 15 peaks, 10 of which are the highest in Northern Ireland including Slieve Donard standing at 850mtrs. It is estimated to take approximately 14 hours/

There are times in one’s life when a listening ear is needed; when it would be helpful to speak to someone with the skills to hear at a deep level the issues that concern us.

 

The counselling service aims to help in a friendly, courteous, respectful and professional manner. Through empathic listening skills, counsellees are helped to find their own solutions to issues.

 

Our counsellors are trained Christians able to offer non-directive, non-denominational and non-discriminatory help to those who have faith or who have none. We believe God is able to help - that where problems have affected clients ‘body, soul or spirit’ we can offer holistic and appropriate help.

· Suicidal feelings

 

· Self-harm
