The Moore family & their road to recovery

Donation protected
My name is Kasey Black (Von Engel).. I am a close family friend to the Moore family. Most of you know the Moore family well, whether it’s from their family business (Low Tide & Co.) Dylan being a deputy in the county or Taylor at the dental office.. they both do a lot for our community.

On the evening of Monday, February 12th, 2024, Taylor and her two oldest children (10 & 5) were headed home from school pickup when suddenly their lives were drastically changed forever.

They were involved in a car accident less than a mile from their home that warranted each of the girls to be transported to three different hospitals for treatment. Madelynn (10) was taken to Riverside Walter Reed where she sustained minor injuries from the impact of the seatbelt/airbag, but is now home with her Dad & his wife, Morgan.

Blakelynn & Taylor received the worst of the injuries.

Blakelynn (5) was taken to the VCU children’s hospital and admitted to ICU where she has already received one surgery and sustained numerous fractures. She will now need to wear a halo device for 3 months to repair a fractured vertebrae. She is still admitted and being treated, but in stable condition.

Taylor was rushed to Riverside Regional hospital in Newport News, where she has also been admitted into the ICU. She has sustained multiple broken bones on both sides of her body as well as a collapsed lung. She has already underwent a 4+ hour surgery and is now beginning her journey to recovery, though she has a very long road ahead.

Taylor will need a lot of rehabilitation in the coming months. Blakelynn is looking at least a few more days in the hospital for treatment and monitoring. Madelynn will continue to rest & recover at home.

Taylor will be out of work until further notice, Dylan will be caring for Taylor as well as their 3 children. Anyone that knows this family, knows they would give the shirt off their back for someone they don’t know and step up where they are needed.

Not only do they have to worry about recovering physically and emotionally, but they have to worry how they will pay these extensive medical bills, all while not being able to work. Dylan will have to help with Blakelynn & Taylor’s recovery for the coming months, as well as caring for their other two children and keeping the house afloat.

I am asking friends near and far to please donate whatever they can to help take the financial burden off of this family that means so much to so many. They will need help with medical and household bills, travel, therapy, food, lodging, etc.

If you are unable to donate, please, just say a prayer for this family. They have been through so much in the past few days and they could use all the support they can get.

The road to recovery will be long, extensive, and difficult, but they are all alive & that’s what is most important.

Thank you!
