The Malan’s medical support

My brother, Eric Malan and his family were the victims of a head-on collision Wednesday evening as he, his wife Nancy and youngest child, Lauren were driving home. Another driver, presumably under the influence, collided with a first vehicle that then propelled the original driver and their vehicle head-on into a second vehicle belonging to my brother who was driving the opposite direction. Accelerated speeds and wildly irresponsible driving choices led to catastrophic damage.

By a miracle, all involved survived this tragedy and my brother and his family are putting all their efforts into working on recovering.

Lauren has special needs that require full-time use of a wheelchair and the wheelchair accessible van. The van was totaled beyond repair. Lauren’s specially equipped wheelchair sustained damage in the collision as well.

The driver that hit them did not own the vehicle they were driving and they do not have a valid drivers license making the insurance process more complicated and likely will draw out their resolution. The family relies on their van to transport Lauren anywhere and everywhere and due to her needs, she has frequent appointments, unplanned and sometimes emergency visits to her doctors and hospital and they cannot wait to move forward on securing transportation.
