Heather Lynn's Cancer Problems
Donation protected
My name is Heather Lynn. I am a 40 yr old single mom with breast cancer.I am struggling to figure it out how to have cancer and still provide for my kids.
Our family went through a divorce and a move within this last year. I was finally finding my footing and making our ends meet. Then in December I was diagnosed with DCIS stage 0 high grade breast cancer. I am really lucky that it was not worse and 100% treatable. I somehow managed to score a cold before Christmas that lingered and got out of hand. I ended up in the ER 4 times in 1 week trying to kill an infection.
I work 2 part time jobs with no benefits. One of my jobs does not work holiday weeks and then I missed the first week back from being sick. So 3 weeks no pay from 1 job.
As of right now the oncologist recommends a lumpectomy, radiation 5x a week for 6 weeks and tamoxifen for 10yrs. I may opt out of radiation and tamoxifen. Then do a double mastectomy this summer when the girls are out of school so they can stay at relatives while I heal. Unfortunately either treatment plan after the lumpectomy requires another 4-8 weeks off.
At this time I do not qualify for any grants for cancer. I will later when I have to do heavy treatment.
I have yet to pay my January rent and with the lumpectomy next Tuesday I won't be able to pay February rent. I would hate to have to uproot my girls again and somehow do it during cancer treatment.
I am asking for help covering my rent while I take a minute to take care of my self. I know its not anyone else's problem but I can't do this on my own. I heard it takes a village and any help would be greatly appreciated.
