Dear Friends,
I am thrilled to announce that on the 1st of October, we will embark on our most exciting adventure yet; flying a Sling High Wing from the Netherlands all the way down to South Africa!
We will depart from our local airport in Hilversum, visiting 12 fascinating countries along the way, before arriving back at Sling's home base in Johannesburg.
As we are quickly approaching 100k subscribers on both YouTube & Instagram, we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to celebrate with a 12 part video series covering over 12,000km!
In this series, we hope to showcase what an immensely diverse world is out there, all within about 60 hours of flying.
The videos will highlight our flight experiences with route & weather planning, air traffic control communications and ground handling. But maybe equally as interesting, will be the people and projects we visit within these countries.
The route that we have planned is as followed:
- Netherlands
- Austria
- Italy
- Greece
- Egypt
- Sudan
- Kenya
- Tanzania
- Zambia
- Namibia
- Botswana
- South Africa
Some iconic highlights that we have planned for this journey include:
- Overflying the pyramids in Egypt
- Assisting in wildlife protection and conservation in Kenya
- Overflying the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro at 18000ft
- Encountering the endangered whale sharks near Mafia Island
- Exploring the Okavango delta and Kubu island in Botswana.
- Visiting the abandoned island of Baia dos Tigres
- Camping in the Namibian desert with a bunch of other slingers!
Sling has kindly allowed us to use their aircraft for this journey, but in order to make the trip a reality and to be able to make 10+ videos, we are looking for your support! With your help, we can focus on capturing local stories & experiences along the way and continue sharing our passion for aviation & adventure with the world.
With any pledge above 15$, you will receive a Garmin inReach link to follow us during our flights and an automatic notification for each leg before take-off and after landing.
Furthermore, you will receive access to our exclusive blog, where we will post behind-the-scenes updates and pictures of our journey as we go. This way you can keep up in real-time, as the YouTube videos will only be edited and posted after the trip (between November-February).
