The last chance to survive from a lethal cancer

Donation protected
Hello all great people,

My name is Amir, and I am starting this Cancer fundraiser to bring possibly the last hope to my rare, complicated, aggressive, and lethal cancer.

It was last year I reached an emergency room to investigate some irritation and itching I was experiencing for several days. Surprisingly. after doing an MRCP (magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography, an imaging test to examine pancreatic and biliary systems) and CT scan, the medical team noticed a nasty tumor in my gallbladder, which spread and infected biliary ducts, lymph nodes, and liver.

They told me this is stage 4 of cancer, and they rejected any possibility of doing surgery, and highly recommended I start chemotherapy, which I did. They warned me if I delay the treatment, I will have only 6 months to one year before dying.

From the early moment, the oncology team told me this is a very rare cancer, and they were surprised at how fast it was growing and metastasizing into near organs. They shared my case situation with a variety of different hospitals and research centers in North America, and they all admitted they never had a patient with my situation in the past.

Unfortunately, the first regimen of the treatment was not successful, and the size of the tumor grew from 7 by 8 to 9 by 10 cm, besides the number of infected areas in my liver also increased.

The oncology team decided to switch the treatment, and although there was some progress in the treatment, they told me my body is going to stop responding to the new chemo drugs as the tumor "learns" how to hide from the drugs.

The last chance in this battle is immunotherapy, a very new treatment that is not regulated in Canada (the medicine is called Durvalumab), where I live. I reached out to my insurance company, government funding, research centers, and even my oncologist reached out to the supplier, but there was only one answer: "We cannot help". Each injection for this drug costs 13,300 CAD and considering one year of supply of the medicine, the total cost would come up to 160,000 CAD, which I should pay out of my pocket.

I already received two doses of injection, fully paid for by myself, and it was promising, since the size of the tumor, lymph nodes infection, and metastasis decreased after receiving the new drug. However, my financial situation is now the biggest problem, since I already spent my savings and emergency funds, and therefore they stopped the treatment for now.

I immigrated to Canada 9 years ago, to start a new life and help society in the best way I can. From the moment I found out about my lethal disease, I faced a lot of other difficult challenges as well: My ex-wife left me almost by the time the disease was diagnosed, and since then, I live alone. Besides, I have been hospitalized several times due to the side effects of chemo drugs. I did my best to keep my job despite all challenges I had since I want to be productive for society and pay my dues. Although I do not have any relatives in Canada, I still keep my hope and spirit to win this battle, but I am afraid with this new treatment, I am all alone in this battle.

Now I want to ask you, to accompany me in this battle. The hope of this fundraiser is to be able to pay for treatments that the Ontario Government as well as other entities refuse to cover.

Thank you for any amount you can donate to help me live a longer and healthier life with this horrible disease.
