The last challenge
The final Challenge.
I am Carl Thomas, multi–World Kick boxing champion and coach from Stockport.
In July this year I will be attempting to set a new World Record to support two causes which are close to my heart.
Ollie’s Army Battling Against Batten Disease supports two children, Ollie, 10 and Amelia, 8 who both have CNL2 Batten Disease, a disease which robs seemingly healthy children from all their abilities, causing seizures and death in early childhood.
When you wish upon a Star, North West grant wishes to children living with life threatening illness. This could be anything from providing wishes to be a princess or superhero for the day to meeting their favourite characters in Disney World, Florida.
This Challenge will have four consecutive parts:
A 250-mile bike ride; a marathon; a 5-mile swim and a heavy vehicle pull over a set length.
To make the challenge harder I will be wearing a weighted vest, apart from the swim.
The challenge will start at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital at 4am on 16th July and finish at 4pm on 17th July at Elvington Airfield, York.
At the same time other people across the country will be taking part in their own particular challenge, which are all scheduled to finish at the same time, 4pm at Elvington Airfield, York, Saturday 17th July for the grand finish.

After such a hard year for us all the coming together is even more powerful and meaningful. I would like as many people as possible taking part, each individual facing their own particular challenge whilst contributing to the main challenge of raising funds for these much-needed causes.
