The Intermission Fund: Support Danny Roth

Donation protected
If you’re reading this then you know and love Danny Roth. And you are likely to be aware that his diagnosis of Ménière’s Disease four years ago, with its wax and wane hearing loss and roller coaster vertigo, has left Danny in a near permanent state of uncertainty resulting in anxiety and ultimately depression. You may also know that Danny has been a brave advocate for himself, seeking hospital care and respite for periods of time over the past three years. And each time, you’ve let him know that he is held and loved through your support from near or far. Whether through cards, calls, good thoughts, food, prayers, or donations, you’ve created a net for Danny. It also is important to lift the fact that in the past two and a half years, Danny has pushed himself during this challenging time by performing with skill and grace in four BTE productions: Tiny Beautiful Things, Merry Christmas George Bailey, and The Christians, and The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. After this most recent hospitalization it became clear that Danny needs to focus solely on his healing by removing himself from anxiety creating circumstances. Sadly, for now, this means his full time work at BTE. With the assistance of BTE and his family, he has applied for a medical leave of absence from BTE and is applying for disability status until such time as he is able to return.

It may take up to five months for his application for disability to be approved. Those familiar with disability may know that once the application is approved he will be paid retroactively for the waiting period since the application was filed. That back payment will allow him to chip away at the mounting medical and other bills.

This is the last thing Danny wanted. He loves his work and his community and setting those aside to make space for healing comes at a price. That’s where we come in. We want to be there to help him carry this weight and worry. Within your ability, we ask you to consider a donation to help cover medical costs and living expenses. And if that is not possible at this time, your continued prayers and good thoughts, a card, a meal, or a call are all welcome ways to offer him support.

With thanks and shared love for the wonderful human that is Danny Roth.
