The house burnt down, husband died
Donation protected
This is Margretia and her family in Swakopmund Namibia. 10 days ago her home burnt down. Her husband was trapped inside and died too.
Three shacks were on this site, housing 14 members of the family. These shacks are very basic, no electricity or running water. But they contained all their meagre possessions.
Margretia's husband died in the fire. They buried him 2 days ago with the last of their money.
The council cleared the site and erected a tent for them to live in temporarily. They use the facilities in the shack next door. These facilities are a drop toilet and a gas cooktop.
We want to help them build a new home. We have priced out the materials. They are happy to do all labour themselves. These people have lost everthing. Margretia is mouring the loss of her "husband and best friend" and has no home for her family. Only the clothes they stand up in
Total costs, 2 shacks $1,400
14 poles by 2.4m @ $6.60/pole or $92.40
3 beams pre wall by 8 walls @ $9.70 per pole or $232.80
9 Roof Beams @ $6.60 or $59.4
20 wall sheets 2.4 by 1.2m @ $20.24 or $404.80
7 Roof fibro sheets @$30 or $210
2 Doors @ $20 or $40
Sub total $1,039.40

Total $1,372 or about $1,400 !!
That leaves them with homes, 2 shacks with dirt floors, no bedding or cooking facilities. Certainly no sanitation or electricity. But it is a start! They will be so grateful. It will make an enormous difference in a lot of people's lives
Ian and I have started by buying $170 worth of framing materials and nails that get delivered tomorrow. If you could just consider buying a wallboard, bag of nails, roofing sheet or anything, they would be so grateful. We can do this. Let's get this poor lady and these kids a home! <3 (Good Karma included)
Margrethia and family
More of the kids who live here and are homeless
Where we want to build the shacks
Paradise next door, where they share with many others the use of a drop toilet and gas cooker
They have no home, no father, no bedding, cooking implements or clothes
They have lost everything, on an unimaginable scale Please help :)
PS Any additional funds will go to a gas cooker, solar light and mattress. Photos will follow on progress :) xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
