FILM SYNOPSIS 

At St. Mary’s, an all-girls Catholic high school, many young women are excited to practice their religion and focus on academics. However, new student Lucy (AKA Lucifer) does not agree with their mission statement, with her attendance being a punishment from God. The archangel Gabriel is sent on a rescue mission without further details, and finds her new living arrangements to be with a teenaged, feminized Satan. After meeting Lucifer’s “friends” and understanding more about her nefarious goals, Lucifer and Gabriel make a deal that will either save humanity as we know it, or continue the spread of evil on Earth.

AUDIENCE 

With a feminine aesthetic and a hint of edge, this short film is Mean Girls meets Good Omens. It should reel in fans of both these productions, as well as those who enjoy dark comedies of all types. 

 

BUDGET 

All of the financing for our campaign will go towards multiple aspects of our production, such as food for our cast and crew, transportation for props and equipment, production design, purchasing items to help with COVID-safety on set, as well as for film festival submissions. Our director has had her work featured in festivals such as the New York International Film Awards, The EVVY Awards, and the Boston Shorts Fest, and we would love to submit to these among many others. We are currently in pre-production, and will begin principal photography in late-February 2022. We would love to have your support in the creation of The God Couple!

MEET THE TEAM 

 

Cayleigh Pine - Writer/Director/Producer

Cayleigh is an award-winning filmmaker from Fort Lauderdale, FL. She moved to Boston to attend Emerson College to continue her passion for the arts, and has been fortunate to work on several productions for student organizations in both theatre and film. She has worked internships with the companies A24 and Horseless Cowboy to enhance her knowledge of the film industry, and she has written and directed multiple short films, with her recent Heather&Harper winning the EVVY Award for Most Outstanding Short Film. She is incredibly excited to create The God Couple as her BA Thesis Film, and is thankful to everyone in support of this project and her other works! 

 

Rodrigo Mariano - Producer 

Rodrigo is a Business of Creative Enterprises Junior at Emerson College. He is a NYFA Finalist, a lover of films, and a lover of the industry. He is currently in post-production on FLIMFLAM, an Emerson Independent Video anthology show in which he serves as a Director and Executive Producer. Rodrigo is a Producer on The God Couple, where he looks forward to poking fun at his Catholic upbringing.

 

Ethan Schlesinger - Producer 

Ethan is a Media Arts Production major at Emerson College. His passion for film stems from his love of storytelling and being a part of a creative team. In his two years at Emerson so far, Ethan has been a part of a wide variety of projects as a part of the camera team, lighting team, and logistics team. As he journeys on towards the second half of his college career, Ethan wants to focus more on producing, writing and directing. Currently, he is producing The God Couple, Blue Square, and an upcoming independent film Banshee of Hawthorn. On The God Couple, Ethan hopes to successfully assist in bringing this new twist on the dark comedy genre to life.

 

Rachel Piatok - Producer

Rachel is a producer from Tacoma, Washington who recently graduated from Emerson College with a Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts Production focused on Producing and a minor in Political Science. Rachel has had significant producing experience on the Emerson campus where she worked on BFAs, BAs, Emerson Channel, and Emerson Independent Video content. During the Fall of 2021, Rachel attended Emerson’s Los Angeles Internship Program where she worked at Voltage Pictures as a Development/Sales Intern. Recently she produced, co-wrote, and co-directed a short film as part of the "Art into Film" program at the Emerson College Kasteel Well Campus and co-wrote, directed, and produced an independent short film, Foxglove, that is currently in post-production. She’s so thrilled to be producing The God Couple and looks forward to helping bring this project to life on the screen!

 

Ellie Carlin - Associate Producer 

Ellie is an Associate Producer for The God Couple. She is a freshman Media Arts Production student at Emerson College. This is the first film that she is associate producing, and she is so thankful to be a part of such an amazing, fun, and funny project! She thanks everyone for the support and hopes once the film is released you all enjoy it!

 

Madison D'Aries - Associate Producer

Madison is a junior at Emerson College majoring in Visual Media Arts. Her main passion resides in screenwriting and producing. She has embarked on a year long internship with a film company in New York called Braven Films. This includes anything from writing coverage to putting together cast lists. She is currently an Associate Producer on The God Couple. From scouting locations to turning soft ideas into concrete plans, being apart of this team has been an enriching experience.
