Keep Flagstone Foodbank Open

Tax deductible
In times of family crisis – when there is no food in the cupboard, when you have to choose between paying the rent or feeding the kids, when a tragedy hits you from left field – it’s good to know there is help just down the street.

That’s why we started the Flagstone Foodbank. We wanted to make sure that the people of Flagstone had a local place to go when the going gets tough; and at the Flagstone Foodbank we help everyone in need, because life happens!!

BUT NOW WE HAVE AN URGENT NEED!

Since May of 2020 we have been supporting, on average, 45 families per week, sometimes many more. These needy families come in all shapes and sizes - single parents, aged pensioners, the unemployed, those suffering with health problems or disability, those escaping domestic violence, and families just struggling to make ends meet; and for just $15 they leave us with a big box of groceries, 2 large bags of fruit and vegetables, as much fresh bakery bread as they want, a large bag of frozen/cold products and items from our ‘take it if you need it’ table, which includes things like nappies, cleaning products, formula, milk and shampoo.  Kids are catered for too.  Kids that come along get to choose a mystery toy from our lucky dip bins and are given a handful of sweet treats at the door.

It is so wonderful seeing happy faces leaving us every week, laden with enough food to stock a pantry and ease the burden of tough times.

WE WANT THIS SERVICE TO CONTINUE

As of the end of March, our current (rent-free) venue will be unavailable to us, so WE HAVE TO MOVE.  Thankfully we have managed to secure another venue here in Flagstone, but we need to raise funds to cover costs - rent, utilities and shop fit out.  If the funds are not raised, sadly, we will be unable to continue serving the needy families in Flagstone, as we will not have a venue.  We do NOT want this to happen!

HERE’S WHERE YOU COME IN

We know that Flagstonians are extremely community-minded and ALWAYS pull together to support those in Flagstone who are in need.  This is a community that cares and for that we thank you!!  Over the course of the past year, many local businesses have been generously supporting the Flagstone Foodbank and we have also had many people drop in with donations to cover the handling fee so that needy families get their hampers for free.

“Sometimes when we are generous in small, barely detectable ways, it can change someone else’s life forever”.

We are asking that you please come together to help us keep the Flagstone Foodbank open.  Please dig deep and give all that you can, share this link with your family and friends and encourage them to support, share with local businesses that you know support our community and have a charitable heart, or come up with your own creative ways of fundraising.  We have less than a month to raise the funds, so let’s get moving and work together to keep Flagstone Foodbank open!!

Flagstone Foodbank is brought to you by Beyond Barriers - Restoring Lives LTD which is a registered charity and a public benevolent institution with DGR status - that means all donations are tax deductible.
