THE FULL MONTY - FUNDRAISER

THE FULL MONTY - Please help MONTY to get the FULL use of his leg again

Monty, found himself abandoned in Bosnia as a young pup roaming for food and kindness. Until one day a man picked him up and put Monty in his yard. Sadly this was not Monty’s lucky day! The man turned out to be a violent alcoholic and Monty’s young life now continued with even greater horrors. Instead of loving care and plenty of food this darling pup found nothing but abuse, severe neglect and was beaten to within an inch of his life. His constant fear and pain were unspeakable...

But then one day in October last year suddenly Monty’s life changed and fate was finally kind to him. He was discovered by the Bark Ark rescue shelter team who absolutely refused to leave this suffering dog where he was! Monty in a desperate attempt to become invisible was hiding within some overhanging trees, tightly pressed against a wall. A quivering wreck! It was heart wrenching to see a dog in so much anguish. In fact it was so bad that when the kind team approached him Monty screamed and screamed in utter terror. For Monty humans only meant horror and pain and he was so terrified. It was one of the most heartbreaking sounds we have ever heard. It was so shocking that we had to cut virtually all of it out of his rescue video.
It took immense patience and kindness to get this terrified dog out of that awful yard. Only when the team saw him up close they realized Monty’s overall extremely poor condition and most of all the horrific injury on his front leg which was grossly swollen and very badly infected. Worse even… it had clearly been left untreated for a very, very long time. The pain poor Monty much have experienced is beyond imagination.

Bojan the shelter owner took Monty into his home as this poor suffering dog needed special care and the busy shelter was absolutely not where he belonged. He needed surgery! And he needed it fast, but he was in no fit state to deal with that right now.

After gaining strength for a few days a wonderful vet was being able to examine Monty to assess what could be done for this pup. Sadly the only option left to safe his leg from being amputated was to fuse the joint. Monty deserved this chance! The surgery went well and Monty healed and for the first time in his life discovered what it meant to be a happy pup. He learned that people can be kind, that food could be plenty and he enjoyed playtime with other dogs at Bojan’s home and also made friends with the cats. Life was looking much more positive already. Monty would always have a slight limp, but his leg was saved and he would be able to use it.

After all his struggles in his short life thankfully Monty is now in his wonderful foster home here in the UK. Sadly, as Monty has grown in the year after his surgery, the original plate was no longer adequate and the screws had loosened which caused him pain and his leg to grow at an unhealthy angle. X-rays were taken and these were assessed by an orthopaedic vet. Initially it looked like his hipe and/or hind leg might have been affected too. The good news was that Monty’s hip was fine, but the knee was a little out of place which didn’t really cause him pain and surgery may not make a lot of difference. The bad news was that his original plate in his front leg needed to be replaced by one of an adequate size, the bones straightened/reshaped where needed to allow Monty to have a pain free life and a leg he could use again.

We are giving this young boy his chance so he can become the FULL MONTY again. Please support this plea for help and give Monty a happy normal life. This boy deserves it so much!

With all our love and gratitude, Monty, Veronica & Paws2Freedom ♥
