The Flower of Oxford

Donation protected
The Oxford based vocal consort, Vespri Segreti, are seeking to secure funds to present its next programme 'The Flower of Oxford'. This will bring together a number of works by leading composer of the English Renaissance, William Byrd (c. 1540-1623), in a vivid musical account of the life and death of St Edmund Campion.

This programme is intended as the first step in a long term project, to include concerts, public workshops, and recordings, in the run up to the 400th anniversary of Byrd's death, which falls in 2023. It is envisaged that work on this would begin with rehearsals in September (2020).

The current health crisis has affected all of us, and has been especially damaging to those in the performing arts sector. We rely on live concerts to generate the majority of our income but, for some time, this has not been possible. We are looking for donations to enable this group of gifted young professional singers to continue to develop their careers as part of Vespri Segreti.

All donations, which will enable us to complete the initial phase by paying our 8 singers for a day's worth of rehearsal, will be gratefully, and warmly, received. Donors will be kept abreast of the group's progress through recorded audio and video updates, and will know that they are helping to sustain and nurture our rich, yet fragile, musical heritage.
