The Final Positive Vibes Tour

Donation protected
Do you remember James Dobson? He set out almost 3 years ago to cycle cross-country to raise money for children with cancer.

James Dobson, originally from Berwick, Maine, left on October 1, 2018 from Dover, NH on a bike headed for San Diego. He traveled nearly 1,500 miles with another 1,800 miles to go in hopes of raising $10,000 for ChAD (Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock). He called the trip, his Positive Vibes Tour.

But, he never made it...

James was struck from behind by a then-19-year-old from Marion County in Mississippi named Hunter Buckley... he was texting & driving.

Hunter Buckley was not charged for James' death. Fifteenth Circuit District Attorney Hal Kittrell said, “the evidence did not support bringing a case against him.”

Cindy now plans to pick up his journey where he left off on Nov. 8th, calling it "The Final Positive Vibes Tour." She bought a bus and is having a friend drive her and her bike to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where she’ll start at the spot he was killed and back track to a safer route to continue her 1,900-mile journey to San Diego. Her bus will follow her, and become her ride back to New England when she has completed the journey.

I can’t imagine the amount of pain Cindy feels without James.

James was one of my best friends. Losing James was the absolute worst day of my life and for many others who loved him dearly. James was like no other. He had the most positive attitude of anyone I have ever met. A smile that could turn anyone’s bad day into a good one… a laugh that could turn a quiet room into a rambunctious crowd. He was genuine, funny, kind, and the brother I never had. He was always smiling and trying to help people. He wanted to make people happy.

Cindy has several sponsors for her trip and is currently seeking donations to help cover lodging, food, and transportation costs. Like her son, she will be documenting her adventures online.

She expects it to take her three months to finish the last leg of his journey to San Diego.

"I'm not letting another year pass me by without taking this trip, this is something I just feel that I have to do," Dobson said. "I know he'll be with me along the way."

If you or anyone you know would like to help and donate for Cindy’s trip, I ask you help by giving a little. Now more than ever, community and personal relationships are important.

As James always said, “Stay Happy, Stay Humble & make someone smile”.

and please… don’t text and drive.
