The Fight for Baby Ruby
Don protégé
My daughter Ruby was born on May 21st at 5:35 a.m. after an emergency C-section. She came into this world 2 months premature, but was doing as well as a baby as early as she was could be. A little over a week ago, Ruby contracted the Adenovirus. This virus causes conjunctivitis and other symptoms in adults, and with a healthy immune system can be easily gotten over. In a premature baby however, this virus has devastating effects...the mortality rate being over 80%. After giving Ruby an antiviral treatment to no noticable avail, the doctors at Nationwide Children's Hospital have pushed for an experimental treatment called Leukapherisis in which they will use my white blood cells to isolate antibodies for the virus to give Ruby instant immunity. This is the last available treatment and we have already received approval from the FDA and the hospital board to proceed Monday. My fiance is unable to continue to work while she is in this critical condition and things are becoming extremely difficult to maintain. Any donations received will go towards medical expenses and care for little Ruby, who will likely be hospitalized for quite some time. Any donations are greatly appreciated and we encourage friends and family to share our cause. Thank you!
