The South West Coast Emergency Clean Up!

As you may already know, we have taken approximately a quarter million pounds of ocean trash from Newfoundland's beautiful waters to reverse the damage to our marine ecosystems! Watching what's happening to our fellow Newfoundlanders on the southwest coast and their ecosystems are heartbreaking. In the last four years, thanks to our governments, people from all walks of life who have been donating to CHI, and I have acquired all the gear needed to do harbour and beach clean-ups safely and efficiently! I am sitting here watching what's happening and wanting to put our knowledge and equipment to work, helping reduce the damage being done by Fiona. Still, I am in no financial position to carry the cost associated with mobilizing the necessary equipment. Between Port Aux Basques and Burgeo, we would need to spend at least two weeks with three boats and a five_ man crew retrieving the debris Fiona washed into the sea; this would come at the cost of approximately $35,000. We have reached out to the provincial government to see if there are any emergency funds available, but if there are, chances are most of the debris will be gone too far to find by the time we get the funds; this needs to be recovered as soon as the sea subsides! Please consider donating to help get us to the South West Coast to clean this up! If we don't raise enough to make the trip, we will donate 100% of the funds to the most affected towns!
