It takes a village to raise a child. It takes one minute to help those left behind, shattered in the wake of the loss of 3 babies and their parents, gone too soon.
Please take a moment out of the daily grind and think of those you love, and reach out to let them know again how much they mean. I am blessed by the amazing family I have, and friends that surround me. I am blessed by you.
Yet, this Saturday Jenny will not be here to celebrate her birthday. Last Sunday, her Dad didn’t get hugs or a card from Jenny or the boys. Jerry’s family nor hers got to say a last goodbye or I love you. I look forward a month, and see the youngest who doesn’t get to be 3 and his daddy and older siblings don’t have the opportunity to grow, to continue, or to live. An accident, a fire, is the reality that they weren't, nor we are, prepared to deal with.
The family, by blood and by friendship, that remains, myself included, are all trying to figure out how to unravel the lives left of our sister, brother in heart and their 3 beautiful boys. We are trying to do right by them, while coping with crushing grief.
We I am asking is that you reflect, starting today, and forgive faster, love more. For those who want to help financially a friend has set up a Go Fund Me for the costs with the death of a whole family at once, to help ease the costs associated with the burial and Memorial of the Drakes. There is also a benevolent account in Jerry Drake’s name at BECU if that is more convenient. Donations for that can be made at any branch referencing Jerry Drake Benevolent account. For those who don’t or can’t, I’m asking that you share the information so those who wish to help have the opportunity.
