Hurricane Harvey hit home for The Damadeo Family. After recently moving to this Houston neighborhood 7 months ago, this wonderful family of four(+ Bella) were forced out of their home after water levels reached 4 feet overnight. With little time to react, Matt and Lily packed up a couple small bags of what they could get, all while securing the two children (2.5yrs/8months) as well as their precious little Bella!
With the help of their neighbor on his kayak, the Damadeo's were able to be paddled to higher ground where they stayed for a couple nights. Now safely out of harms way, they wait for the water to receed enough so they can go back and salvage what they can from the waterfilled house. It will be a long road back to normalcy for this family, but if any family can handle the climb back, its The Damadeos'.
Anyone that knows them, understands the perseverance and tenacity that surrond them. Taking the worst situation and adding love and laughter ( and maybe a bit of magic) to it is what they are best at. Also knowing that they have some of the best support through their friends and family, is very comforting.
We are asking for everyone to do whatever you can to expedite this road to recovery.
We have a small crew of people coming in from New Orleans to help salavge whatever is possible this weekend, knowing most, if not all of their belongings are destroyed.
We ask that you share this with all those that know and love this family, and realize the help that every dollar means! Message, tag and invite as many people you know that have a connection to either Matt or Lily, or that are asking who/what they should donate to.

Knowing Matt for(throat clear) 20 years and Lily for 15, I can personally forsee how humbling this type of out reach can be. But its in these times of need when those that have been by your side can step up to help. It's time for this family, who have helped many in the past, to be on the receiving end and prove that things come full circle. There are many of us that have been through similar situations, anyone who lives/lived in NOLA can attest.
Obviously the money raised here will go towards clothing, furniture, kitchen staples, household staples, childrens apparel/necessities, moving costs, future rent/security deposit and Bud Light(-->joke). The rebuilding of their lives is not just a monetary expense. It will involves a lot of emotional sacrifice, time and patience.
But as it was stated above, with the love and support from all the family and friends that The Damadeo's have, it will be significantly easier to get started!!!!!
