The Congo Peace Catalyst Scholarship

Donation protected
Since 1997, the Democratic Republic of Congo has gone through several series of civil wars that have killed 6 million people, have displaced thousands and traumatized a nation.

The current situation is that youth graduate from Universities but don’t receive coaching or mentorship about their professional career. As consequence, a large number of youth are joining rebel and militia groups to find a way of interring into politics; since politics seems to be the best way of quickly getting rich because of fraud and corruption.

Congo Peace Network, a Non-Governmental Organization created by Congolese youth who are passionate about Peace has started taking action through Peace Education around the topics of  Non-Violent Conflict Resolution, Human Rights and Advocacy, Critical Thinking, and Negotiation and Mediation.

This project aims at providing scholarship to on student every year for the three coming years.  Congo Peace Network has promised to provide space to these changemakers for trainings in its local Peace Clubs throughout Eastern DRC.  These trainings will be facilitated by youth based on the knowledge they acquire in college over their academic vacation time throughout the program. After they graduate, apart from their part time intervention, they are invited to apply their knowledge in local Peace Clubs of Congo Peace Network throughout Eastern DRC. In order to strengthen their professional skills throughout the program, these changemakers will be assigned mentors by Congo Peace Network who will help them shape and implement their visions for Peace in the communities they are from.
The funds raised from this campaign will be directly sent to Congo Peace Network which will be coaching them throughout their college time. Congo Peace Network will use the funds to pay for their tuition, their living expenses and health insurance per year. Donors to this campaign will be updated about the use of these funds by email.
Below is a video of testimonies of youth who have gone through the same process:
