Creek Fire-Firefighter Jeff Chung-Please Help
Jeff Chung is a volunteer firefighter for the Shaver Lake Fire Department in Shaver Lake, California. He and his wife, Janet, were renting a home in the 44000 block of Auberry Road in Pine Ridge (about 10 miles south of Shaver, near Cressman's) that was destroyed by the Creek Fire in the early morning hours of Tuesday, September 8th. They escaped with whatever Jeff could get in his pickup which doubles as his firefighting vehicle.
Jeff & Janet had been staying in a borrowed cabin after their house burned down, but after facing a 2nd evacuation due to the encroaching Creek Fire they decided to move in with family in Selma until they can find permanent housing in the Shaver Lake area. Once they find permanent housing they will need to replace their furniture, tools, clothes and appliances.
Jeff and Janet need your help. Jeff had been working a fire north of Sacramento prior to coming home when the Creek Fire broke out. Since then he’s been saving other's homes, cabins, and businesses at the expense of his own, and this catastrophe didn't stop him from going back to firefighting afterwards. He rejoined his fellow volunteer firefighters the morning after looking over the moonscape that used to be his home. They've been checking properties and making sure new fires don't break out in Shaver Lake because that's what heroes do!
The fundraising goal is $20,000 which would go a long way towards replacing their household necessities. Please donate today, and please share this to your Facebook feed to get the word out about this hero and his wife in their time of need.
