I'm embarrassed & heatbroken to ask my friends and family for help! But on Sept. 13 thru the 15th, hurricane Florence hit our home in Jacksonville, NC.

We were forced to evacuate on Monday Sept. 10th. That is when we became homeless with our 4 children & 2 dogs. We packed a few suitcases and fled the wrath of Florence.

We knew it was bad from info we received from friends & neighbors, but nothing could prepare us for the extensive loss we had. Aaron was able to finally get into town on Wednesday the 19th only to find a complete disaster zone. Our home was completely overtaken by water. At the peek of the storm, our back fence was knocked down, & my vehicle was under 4+ ft of water along with the garage. Water went rushing through our house at nearly a foot deep. Destroying everything with dirty water. Soon after power was out, and it stayed that way for over 170 hours. With the heat, & humidity, our family home turned into a cesspool, very little is salvageable, & unlivable. The smell is so bad, it is unbearable. We were not prepared for the devastation we received, it became reality.

Little did we know less than a year later we would be homeless, out of school, work, & just a few suitcases to our name.

We were in the process of remodeling,  sinking every dime into our house, all summer, being so happy to have a place of our own, it wasn't perfect but it was all ours. Now we have nothing.

Being the victims of such devastion is horrible, people only know what they see on the news, which has moved on to the next big story, & mistakenly think their donations are helpful. But the resources are impossible to obtain, taking months for very little. There is price gouging, & looting. Thank God for our brave citizens who stayed to defend our homes and neighborhoods.

We just got news from our insurance company we are not covered for this disaster through them, and are waiting on an additional claim on another policy. I don't understand, I thought I was being smart, I called before the storm to verify my policy, I filed my claim & verified again. We don't understand how this happened, our house is on a hill, graded away from our house, its impossible, but here we are.

Now to find out that not only have we lost everything we most likely are not going to be covered. Leaving us at the mercy of the state which won't even cover 1/4 of what we need. Meanwhile we are waiting as our home rots away.

We were told not to touch anything in our home and take pictures. Also, we can't apply for any other assistance until we get a final decision from insurance company .

Aaron & I are the proud parents of Marley, Everlee, Sonni, & Bodhi Wolfgang. We also have 2 pups Duke & Delilah. Aaron & I have never been well off and it took us 10yrs of hard work to accomplish our dream of becoming homeowners. So a week before Christmas 2017 we finally closed on our house finally giving our children a place to call home. They have made friends, we have found an amazing church. Also, a great neighborhood & community. Sonni had just started his first school year with Kindergarten, and Marley's last year before high school.

We are now homeless, (might have to leave state to stay with family, & friends) out of work, school canceled, & we have lost everything from my grandmothers China, to my babies keepsake boxes. If anyone can help please do, we need everything from, food, diapers, clothes, car, to a home! & know that your donations will help our family get our lives back in order. We have put a break even amount up. Just know we are not asking for a hand out, but a hand up. If it was just Aaron & I, we would never reach out like this, but we have 6 lives in our hands (including puppies)

All of the support from professionals to the areas affected has helped to solidify our faith in humanity. We would greatly appreciate any help you can offer, thanks the Chabolla Clan
